Arturia MiniFreak 49 – Hybrid polysynth
MiniFreak 49 is an experimental and expressive hybrid synthesizer designed to encourage creative sound exploration. With two digital sound engines, polyphonic analog filters and a wide range of advanced modulation options, it is built to shape and transform sound in real time. Filter FM takes the tone from smooth and organic to aggressive and raw, while Voice Panning opens up the stereo field and gives basses, pads and textures impressive width. The expanded hands-on controls make it easy to color, sculpt or disrupt a sound without breaking the musical flow.
Touch, press, transform
The XYZ touch matrix brings performance, modulation and navigation together on a single surface. By swiping, pressing and using pressure sensitivity, multiple parameters can be controlled at once, offering an intuitive and immediate way to shape sound. Color‑coded modulation routing, swipeable preset browsing and animated visual feedback make every patch feel alive and invite spontaneous sound design.
Unexpected range
MiniFreak 49 moves effortlessly between the familiar and the experimental. Its two digital engines offer more than 30 oscillator modes – spanning virtual analog, FM, wavetable, granular, sample‑based and physical modeling synthesis. Each voice passes through its own analog filter, adding character and dynamic response even to unconventional sounds. The refreshed preset library provides inspiring starting points for both beginners and advanced sound designers.
Expressive playing surface
The full‑size 49‑key semi‑weighted keybed with velocity and mono aftertouch offers plenty of space for chords, melodies and two‑handed playing. Aluminum pitch and modulation wheels are positioned for immediate control. The sequencer and arpeggiator keep ideas moving, and MiniFreak V provides a complete software counterpart for DAW integration, preset management and bidirectional control.
